FASHIONCLASH Side Program 2014

During the FASHIONCLASH Festival 2014, we are not just offering amazing fashion shows, a mind-blowing exhibition, and an exciting Designer Market. No, the whole city of Maastricht is participating in the FASHIONCLASH Side Program. Pop-up stores, exhibitions, lectures, movies, special events in selected boutiques and cultural spots will be spread across Maastricht and turn the FASHIONCLASH Festival into a truly unforgettable event.

On the 12th of June, the side program will be officially opened with a fashion show at the Bijenkorf at 7pm. After the fashion show, you will be able to relax in the dark rooms of the Lumière Cinema that will show a selection of fashion films during the Fashion Film Night Out. But besides that, what will happen during the Side Program? Let me warn you, it’s going to be busy, so grab your walking shoes and follow the guide!

If you arrive in Maastricht with the train, have a look at the Pop-Up Expo Box from About 11, the third year fashion and design students from the MAFAD, located at the central station. After having looked at their collection, walk towards the city centre and stop in the Wycker Brugstraat. On your way, you will find Noir that will give you 10% discount and Stijl, which will have some nice refreshments and food. Don’t forget to have a look at Lena Berens’s exhibition in café Zondag, one of the most popular cafés in Maastricht!

While you’re approaching Maastricht’s old bridge, you will pass the city’s oldest and most charming street, the Rechtstraat. Why not have a look at Milica Yukadinovic’s collection in Hot Kitchen Men’s Boutique? Want to see more of the Rechtstraat? Continue until the Hoogbrugstraat where you’ll find the boutique MAX that will be collaborating with Anya Liesnik for the side program.

After discovering Wijck, it is highly time to cross the Maas and walk through the shopping streets of the city centre. Your first stop? De Bijenkorf! With a pop-up store in store from AM WESTEN and a pop-up expo from Linda Friesen, de Bijenkorf is definitely a must see!

From thereon, lose yourself in the neighbourhood of the Stokstraat and discover new designers in the small boutiques. Le Marais is collaborating with Alexandra Kalkowski and her label DBAK, and Siefers Opticum will collaborate with DAMN.

In need of a refreshment? Grab an ice cream on Sint Amorsplein at Australian. The second scoop is free! If an ice cream is not what you need, then head to the Dominicanen Kerk where you’ll be able to enjoy a warm coffee at Coffeelovers. Don’t forget to take a picture with your cup, put it online and tag #fashionclash. Who knows, you might win a ticket for the fashion shows.

Feeling like shopping exclusive designer pieces? The place to be is definitely the Mosae Forum. Four pop-up stores will be located there: FASHION FREAX, OFF STRAND, FEE ACADEMY DIVISION, and STRIKKS:store. Accessories, menswear, children’s clothes: you will find everything you want. The Mosae Forum is located on one of the highlights of Maastricht: the Markt square. While you’re there, why not take the Brusselstraat and stop at number 53. Christina Braun and Sonia Aissaoui will expose their collections while the Fitting Room Projects will launch their essay “Fashion Frictions” on Saturday the 14th at 3pm.

By now, you should definitely feel hungry. Barsserie Appart, in the old town of Maastricht, will have a special FASHIONCLASH Menu for 42,50 €. You prefer the atmosphere of the Wijck neighborhood? Restaurant O in the Rechtstraat has a surprise menu with 4 courses for the price of 3!

What a busy day, and that’s not even it. For the full Side Program, have a look at the FASHIONCLASH website: www.fashionclash.nl
