LORIS&LIVIA in Clash Project

1. Please introduce yourself to our readers. (Who are you, where do you come from and what is your field of specialization?)
We are Loris Jaccard and Livia Lauber are we’re working together as LORIS&LIVIA. We were both born in Switzerland but we have been living and working in London for many years now. Product and furniture design is our field of specialization.

2. What inspires you as a designer/artist?
Inspiration is everywhere! We often look at materials and details that we encounter in our everyday life, and we like to draw inspiration from vintage pieces and weird tools. We also like graphics and colors a lot.

3. What is your concept for the Clash Project?
We like to play with proportions and scale! We extend, shrink, blow up or just get rid of elements to only keep the essential. Our outfit reminds of giant knitwear inspired by bondage, or a super hero costume. Because the face and arms are covered, the outfit is anonymous and looks like an object rather than a character. The Lemontoy is carried like a ceremonial accessory. There is no drama; it is pop, pink and sexy!

4. What is your vision on ‘fashion’?
Fashion is freedom and personality. Everything starts with fashion; it sets the mood and we follow. Fashion is time driven, ever-changing, inspiring, and thinks quicker than any other creative field.

5. What do you think will be the challenge in the project?
Walk in high heels with arms bonded in the outfit!

6. How do you personally define a „fashion clash“ or „a clash with fashion“ for yourself?
More than a mismatch of color, it is the idea to wear something that is not meant to be wearable or comfortable. Wearing objects or becoming an object when you wear something is a fashion clash!

7. What do you expect from FASHIONCLASH Maastricht 2012?
Very unexpected outfits, interesting comments and beautiful pictures!
